HEEL PAIN A common foot problem usually resulting
from inflammation of a ligament causing pain mostly in the morning or
after a period of rest. Treatment is multi-fold
INGROWN NAILS This problem usually leads to an
infection which can be cured by specially cutting the nail and / or
permanently, by killing part of the root of the nail.
DIABETIC FOOT CARE Diabetes can lead to circulatory
problems as well as a form of nerve damage which can lead to numbness of
the feet. Therefore, routine care of nails and calluses can prevent
ulcerations, gangrene and possibly amputations.
BUNIONS These are bumps at the big toe joint that
cause pain, especially with shoes, that can be treated with pads, wider
shoes, anti-inflammatory pills and in some causes surgery.
SPORTS MEDICINE Sports injuries involve sprains,
strains and an overuse syndrome which in most cases can be effectively
treated with rest, ice compression and immobilization.
CHILDREN'S FOOT DISORDERS A common problem is
in-toeing of feet which can be treated with night splints and
orthotics. Orthotics are inserts worn inside the child's
shoe.

FUNGAL NAILS These nails appear thick and yellow.
It is usually caused by trauma to the nail, poor circulation or a
deficient immune system. Treatments are available in topical or oral
form.
ATHLETE'S FOOT This is caused by a fungal infection
of the skin. Fungus grows in warm, dark moist areas. So get as much light
and air to your feet as possible. Treatments are topical in nature and are
best prescribed.
FLAT FEET Some flat feet can cause pain. Tired and
aching feet usually occur toward the end of the day or after
activity. This usually can be alleviated with shoe inserts.
HAMMER TOES These are usually caused by a muscle
imbalance in the feet and can cause painful corns or calluses on the toes.
It can be treated with routine care or corrected with surgery.
ANKLE INJURIES These usually occur during sporting
activities or by stepping wrong and turning the ankle. Treatments are
rest, ice, compression and elevation (r-i-c-e). X-rays are recommended to
rule out a fracture and can be taken in the office.
FOOT SURGERY Surgery can be used to permanently
repair a variety of foot problems such as bunions, hammertoes, and heel
pain. Some surgeries can be performed in the office and others in a
hospital setting. |
